Although I'm cautiously optimistic about nanotechnology, I remain very concerned it could be just another form of pollution that, in the long run, could do more harm than good. Along those lines, one common nanoparticle -- the buckyball -- could harm your DNA, according to new research.
Scientists tested how buckyballs react when they come in contact with DNA, and the results aren't good. Buckyballs attach so tightly they distort DNA strands with about the same force that drugs command at the molecular level to bind to cell receptors, and may disrupt how they function.
What's more, another recent study found buckyballs accumulate in largemouth bass, causing cell damage and accumulating in their brains.
Even more reason for you to forget about nanotechnology and consider more natural treatments that can protect and enhance your health safely.
