Feds Faulted For Scant Oversight on GMOs

One of the many concerns I have about our nation's food supply being tainted by the use of genetically modified (GM) crops may soon be addressed: A lack of oversight by the U.S. Department of Agriculture.

A devastating 75-page report issued late last year (free text link below) by the department's own Office of the Inspector General lays bare all the problems. Among them:

Federal regulators failed to keep track of violations.
Experimental GM crops weren't destroyed after field testing was completed.
Regulators lack even the most basic information needed to make the right decisions regarding where to conduct such testing.

Of course, had the feds kept up with my Web site as many of you do every day, they would've already known about the potential dangers of GM plants grown to make useless drugs cross-pollinating with crops used to make beer and the new breed of super weeds.
